Browns sign DB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu

Seventh-round pick is the sixth pick to sign with the team

The Cleveland Browns continue to steadily sign their draft class, although first-round pick Danny Shelton (despite reports) remains unsigned.

Today, the team announced that seventh-round pick Ifo Ekpre-Olomu has become the sixth draft selection to sign. Ekpre-Olomu joins Nate Orchard, Xavier Cooper, Charles Gaines, Malcolm Johnson and Randall Telfer as rookies under contract.

Ekpre-Olomu is a possible late-round steal, having dropped out of the draft’s first two rounds only due to a knee injury he suffered in practice during the College Football Playoffs. The defensive back finished his college career with 141 tackles and nine interceptions.

The defensive back looks set to be a “rookie redshirt” as he rehabilitates from injury. The Browns have expressed confidence that Ekpre-Olomu possesses the character and work habits that portend well for a recovery in time for the 2016 season.
