The Seattle Seahawks are one play away from being back to back champions and return all of their key players from the last few seasons. While the Patriots will general get this spot as the defending champs, Seattle's roster and continuity gives them this spot for 4 out of the 6 OBR panelists.
The Colts get love here but far more diverse spread here. Andrea and Rick him them at 5 and 6 while I ranked them 3rd with big concerns about their run defense and offensive line.
The Patriots only got one first place vote, from Rick, with a couple of 6 place votes. The Pats are likely to have Tom Brady for the entire season but teams rarely repeat.
The Cardinals are my surprise team, obviously as I have ranked them #2. Without Carson Palmer for most of last year they were still good. Palmer is back healthy now, which should give fans in the desert a lot of hope.
With Aaron Rodgers on the team, the Packers have a chance. Whether they can replace Jordy Nelson, as well as continued offensive line concerns, are the bigger questions.
Two of the four AFC North teams are part of The OBR's Top 10. Baltimore is the highest rated while the Bengals get the nod over the Steelers in somewhat surprising fashion. The Eagles are a trendy team with their offense but defense is still important in the NFL. Dallas has to replace their top runner while Peyton Manning and Gary Kubiak have to figure out how to work together.
The depth in the NFL is clear when you look at this list of 5. The Chargers, Lions and Steelers all have top notch QBs while Buffalo and Miami are betting on their defenses and young QBs. I would not be shocked to see the Steelers fall off due to their aging defense and dependence on Big Ben to create on offense.
Another interesting group of 5. The Vikings are a trendy pick to take the NFC North while the Chiefs, Saints, Falcons and Giants all have hopes for a Playoffs spot. Concerns abound, especially for the last 3 teams on this list who have seemed to be moving backwards in the last couple of years, after being Super Bowl contenders for years.
Here, at 24 we find the Browns. Likely a bit higher than most Power Rankings will have them but some consistency among all of our writers. As you look through the teams ranked below you may agree with this rank. Some of you will believe these are homer rankings, and that is okay.
The Bears are stuck with Jay Cutler, the Jags still have a lot of development, the 49ers are sinking to the floor quickly and Oakland has some high level players but is lacking a lot of depth.
Finally, the bottom of the list. The Browns play the Jets and Titans in the first two weeks while Washington puts the fun in dysfunctional. Tampa Bay has a long road to climb from being the worst team in the league. Jameis Winston will have his struggles his rookie year.
