OBR NFL Power Rankings: Week 7

Week 7 in the NFL is in the books and The OBR NFL Power Rankings are back. The Browns don't deserve a lot of respect at this point and do not get it from our group of experts.

Team Last Rank W or L Record Jared Barry Lane Andrea Rick Fred Hayden
New England 1 W 6 - 0 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
Green Bay 2 BYE 6 - 0 3 2 2 3 2 2 2
Cincinnati 3 BYE 6 - 0 2 3 3 2 3 4 3
Denver 4 BYE 6 - 0 6 4 4 5 5 3 4
Carolina 5 W 6 - 0 4 5 5 4 4 5 5
Atlanta 6 W 6 - 1 5 7 8 7 6 6 6
Arizona 7 W 5 - 2 7 6 6 6 7 7 7
Note: Where this cutoff between top level teams and the 2nd level could be debated. Some would put the cutoff a few teams higher while some give the Steelers and Seahawks some benefit of the doubt. The two loss Cardinals have been very good on both sides of the field and sneak in here.
Jets 8 L 4 - 2 10 8 7 8 8 8 8
Pittsburgh 9 L 4 - 3 11 10 10 10 9 10 9
Seattle 14 W 3 - 4 9 11 9 9 11 9 16
Minnesota 12 W 4 - 2 8 9 13 13 12 13 10
Giants 15 W 4 - 3 12 12 11 11 10 15 11
Note: The number of teams with winning records is 11. You read that right. After 7 weeks of the season, only 11 teams have winning records. A few other teams have .500 records but the rest of the league is bad. The Steelers have to hope that Big Ben can return quickly and play well. The Vikings are rising quickly after high expectations going into the season.. The Giants sneak in to this group.
Buffalo 10 L 3 - 4 13 13 12 12 14 11 13
Indianapolis 11 L 3 - 4 14 14 15 16 13 12 14
Philadelphia 13 L 3 - 4 18 17 14 14 16 14 15
Oakland 19 W 3 - 3 16 18 18 15 15 19 12
Dallas 16 L 2 - 4 17 15 16 17 20 16 18
St. Louis 17 W 3 - 3 15 16 19 19 17 17 17
Note: At different points this year, either before the season or during, the Bills, Colts, Eagles and Cowboys were considered top level teams. The Bills have struggled without Tyrod Taylor, the Colts with Andrew Luck, the Eagles all together and the 'Boys without Tony Romo. The Raiders young core is exciting and the Rams proved they have a great defense against our struggling Browns.
San Diego 18 L 2 - 5 20 19 20 20 22 18 19
Miami 25 W 3 - 3 19 21 17 21 21 20 22
Washington 23 W 3 - 4 21 20 23 18 19 24 20
Kansas City 22 W 2 - 5 22 23 22 23 18 22 25
New Orleans 30 W 3 - 4 23 22 21 22 23 21 24
Note: The line between teams with hope and those without is here. The Redskins don't seem to fit here but at 3-4, sadly, they are considered in this group. The Dolphins have won 2 straight with their new coach but have played bad teams. The Chiefs stumbled out of the gate and are without their best player but have a lot of talent. Drew Brees is still a Saint but isn't able to carry the team at this point. The Chargers just can't pull out victories against good teams.
Chicago 24 BYE 2 - 4 24 24 27 24 24 26 21
Cleveland 20 L 2 - 5 26 27 25 27 26 23 27
Houston 21 L 2 - 5 29 28 26 28 28 25 26
Tampa Bay 28 L 2 - 4 27 26 30 29 25 30 23
Jacksonville 31 W 2 - 5 25 25 31 26 29 28 29
Baltimore 26 L 1 - 6 30 29 24 30 27 31 31
Tennessee 27 L 1 - 5 31 30 29 25 30 29 30
San Francisco 29 L 2 - 5 28 31 28 31 31 27 28
Detroit 32 L 1 - 6 32 32 32 32 32 32 32
Note: The Browns belong in the lowest group. A ton of bad teams, specifically with 2 or less wins. Each could be fighting for a Top 5 pick in the NFL Draft. The Ravens and Lions are the surprise teams down here, both with only 1 win. Only the Jags, in London, got a victory in this group and they are very flawed as well.
