BEREA—Just hours after Browns head coach Mike Pettine said that a meeting between Johnny Manziel and an NFL investigator was imminent, said meeting took place, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
The meeting, which was centered around Manziel's involvement in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, earlier this month, took place at the Browns facility in Berea on Wednesday evening, according to Cabot.
Before the Browns practice, Pettine confirmed that he knew the time and place of the meeting, but wouldn't officially divulge the detials.
“I do know when the league will interview Johnny,” Pettine said. “It’s imminent.”
Pettine confirmed too that the meeting would be wrapped up by week’s end.
“Yes, there’s a sense of urgency to it,” Pettine said. “That meeting is imminent.”
When asked if Manziel would be available to the Browns on Sunday, with Josh McCown missing practice time due to an injured shoulder and sore ribs, Pettine didn’t seem to have a clear answer.
“We’ll just wait and see,” Pettine said. “The league has its protocol and how they handle these situations and we’ve been ultra cooperative to date and will continue to be.”
