The OBR NFL Power Rankings: Week 8

The OBR experts are back with their Weekly NFL Power Rankings. One team rose 6 spots, another 5. How far down are our beloved Cleveland Browns among the dreck of the bottom feeders in the NFL?

Rank Team Last Rank W or L Record Jared Barry Lane Andrea Rick Fred Hayden
New England 1 W 7 - 0 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
Cincinnati 3 W 7 - 0 2 2 4 2 2 3 3
Denver 4 W 7 - 0 4 4 2 3 3 2 2
Carolina 5 W 7 - 0 3 3 5 4 5 5 4
Green Bay 2 L 6 - 1 5 5 3 5 4 4 5
Arizona 7 W 6 - 2 6 6 6 6 6 6 6
Atlanta 6 L 6 - 2 8 7 7 7 7 7 7
Minnesota 11 W 5 - 2 7 8 11 8 8 8 8
Jets 8 L 4 - 3 10 9 13 10 10 9 9
Oakland 16 W 4 - 3 9 10 8 9 9 16 10
Note: Well there are 11 teams in the NFL with winning records, but the Rams are still down at #15 so we are splitting here at 10. Oakland makes a big jump, up 6 spots, this week while the Packers drop 3 spots after their first loss. That win seems to have validated the Broncos for our staff.
Pittsburgh 9 L 4 - 4 11 12 12 11 11 11 11
Seattle 10 W 4 - 4 12 11 10 12 12 10 12
Giants 12 L 4 - 4 13 13 9 14 14 12 13
Buffalo 13 BYE 3 - 4 14 15 14 15 15 13 15
St. Louis 18 W 4 - 3 15 14 16 13 13 18 14
Note: There are 4 other teams with .500 records but the Saints are crawling out of the pit of their terrible start. The Rams have two wins against opponents above them, Seattle and Arizona while Buffalo has to hope Tyrod Taylor can come back and be a spark. Big Ben is back but Le'Veon Bell is out, can the Steelers somehow maintain?
Philadelphia 15 BYE 3 - 4 16 17 17 17 19 14 16
Indianapolis 14 L 3 - 5 20 18 18 16 18 15 19
New Orleans 23 W 4 - 4 19 16 15 18 16 21 20
Dallas 17 L 2 - 5 17 19 21 19 20 17 21
San Diego 19 L 2 - 6 23 20 22 21 21 19 22
Note: The Dolphins quick return with their new coach got beat up quick. Their two wins with Big Dan were against bad teams so they don't get respect here. The Eagles, Colts, Saints, Cowboys and Chargers all had Super Bowl hopes coming into the season. None are completely out of it but there is a lot of tough sledding ahead for them to have a chance at sniffing the big game.
Miami 20 L 3 - 4 18 21 25 20 22 25 17
Washington 21 BYE 3 - 4 21 22 19 22 25 22 18
Kansas City 22 W 3 - 5 22 23 23 23 17 20 23
Houston 26 W 3 - 5 24 24 24 24 23 24 25
Chicago 24 L 2 - 5 28 26 20 25 26 23 26
Tampa Bay 27 W 3 - 4 25 25 28 26 24 27 24
Cleveland 25 L 2 - 6 29 28 27 27 27 26 29
Jacksonville 28 BYE 2 - 5 26 27 29 29 29 28 27
Baltimore 29 W 2 - 6 27 29 26 28 28 29 28
Tennessee 30 L 1 - 6 31 30 30 30 30 31 31
San Francisco 31 L 2 - 6 30 31 31 31 31 30 30
Detroit 32 L 1 - 7 32 32 32 32 32 32 32
Note: There are a lot of bad teams in the NFL. While some of these fan bases are probably happy that their team is trending upward, most are pretty frustrated with the level of play of their team. The Browns drop another 2 spots but no farther due to the terrible nature of the rest of the bottom feeders right now. Two of these teams have kicked their coach to the curb, is Mike Pettine next?
