OBR Power Rankings: Browns Hit Rock Bottom

It took until this week but our Cleveland Browns have finally hit rock bottom. Who is in contention and who is not for the NFL Playoffs is very muddled. See what we think with our Weekly OBR NFL Power Rankings.

Rank Team Last Rank W or L Record Jared Barry Lane Andrea Rick Fred Hayden
1 Carolina 1 W 12 - 0 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
2 Arizona 3 W 10 - 2 2 3 2 2 4 3 4

7 Seattle 8 W 7 - 5 7 7 5 8 6 6 9
8 Pittsburgh 9 W 7 - 5 8 9 8 7 9 9 8
Note: With the Vikings getting destroyed this week, the Steelers, Packers and Seahawks all jump ahead of them. Could this be a version of our final 8? Panthers, Cardinals, Packers and Seahawks out of the NFC and the Bengals, Patriots, Broncos and Steelers out of the AFC. Think most of us would take them over the field for sure.
9 Minnesota 6 L 8 - 4 9 8 11 11 10 8 6
10 Kansas City 10 W 7 - 5 10 10 9 9 8 10 11

17 Tampa Bay 20 W 6 - 6 17 16 15 15 19 19 20
Note: A muddled mess that Tampa Bay has inserted themselves into. The Vikings fell 3 spots, most this week while the Bucs rose 3, also the most this week. Never know what we are going to get out of the Jets, Colts, Texans, Bills and Giants. The Falcons are falling fast while the Chiefs stay in their Top 10 spot and continue to overcome their poor start to the season.
18 Oakland 17 L 5 - 7 18 19 18 16 17 17 17
19 Chicago 18 L 5 - 7 19 18 16 17 18 18 19

21 Philadelphia 21 W 5 - 7 21 21 22 21 21 21 21
Note: Probably the last group of teams, besides the Cowboys in the NFC (L)East, that could make a run for the Playoffs. Oakland just hasn't put it together like many expected, the Bears are not a complete team. Washington is up and down while the Eagles could be bouncing back with a big win over the Pats. Little confidence any of these teams can make big noise in the Playoffs but they still have a shot.
22 St. Louis 22 L 4 - 8 23 22 24 22 22 22 23
23 Jacksonville 23 L 4 - 8 24 23 23 24 23 23 24

25 Dallas 24 W 4 - 8 25 25 25 23 24 24 25
26 Detroit 26 L 4 - 8 26 26 21 27 26 26 26
27 Baltimore 27 L 4 - 8 27 28 28 26 27 27 27
28 New Orleans 28 L 4 - 8 28 27 27 28 28 28 28
29 San Francisco 30 W 4 - 8 29 29 29 29 29 29 29
30 San Diego 29 L 3 - 9 30 30 30 30 30 30 30
31 Tennessee 32 W 3 - 9 31 31 31 31 31 31 31
Note: A bunch of blah in this group. Detroit could be on the road to saving their coaching staff, but that is still unlikely. The rest of this section is looking at draft positioning, with the Titans doing the Browns a favor in that department. Some very good QBs among this group (Romo, Stafford, Flacco, Brees, Rivers), some young guys who teams thought they would be able to build around (Foles, Kaepernick, Tannehill, Bortles) and a rookie (Mariota) that much is expected of. Yet they all sit here near the bottom of the league.
32 Cleveland 31 L 2 - 10 32 32 32 32 32 32 32
Note: We all agree, the Browns are bad. All of us ranked them #32 and we don't see that changing. The good news is the #1 overall draft pick. The bad news is this is considered a weak draft class with no sure fire #1 guy. Will Manziel show they don't need a QB? Can they trust him long term with his off the field stuff? Last 4 games will be very interesting, and likely all loses.
