A team source has informed this column with the following details regarding the contract offer status of the remaining unsigned rookies:
Chris Crocker, selected with the 84th overall pick in the draft has been offered a five-year deal, with a signing bonus that exceeds the signing bonus given ($550,000) to the 67th player selected in the draft, linebacker Antwan Peek of the Houston Texans. Crocker is expected to agree to terms and be in camp with the team prior to the Browns/Bills scrimmage on August 2nd.
Discussions with representatives for Lee Suggs, the 115th overall selection in the draft have been conducted at a slow pace, due to Suggs recovering from shoulder surgery, his contract has not been a priority. Negotiations have begun to heat-up with the significant progress made with the other remaining rookie selections close to agreeing to contracts.
Michael Lehan, selected with the 152nd overall pick in the draft has been offered a five-year deal, with a signing bonus that is comparable to the bonus given ($252,000) to the 132th player selected in the draft, LaBrandon Toefield of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Lehan has been on the cusp of agreeing to terms with the Browns, indications are that Lehan will ink his deal with the Browns prior to the team scrimmage against the Bills on August 2nd.
Representatives for rookie defensive lineman Antonio Garay and the team remain far apart in negotiations.
