Fast Lane Updates: Berea, Draft, Gordon, More

Lane has updated the Fast Lane but to provide you with easy access to the most recent stuff we are bringing to you here

On the general feel around Berea with the new staff

New staff has open and professional with players, telling many that they believe they weren't put in a good position and the goal for this staff is to get players in positions, doing things that are to their respective strengths -- in prep and on the playing field.

Some of the change will result in scheme change, responsibility and position change

On Josh Gordon

From within the walls of Berea --

"From what we have heard, Josh (Gordon) has been in compliance with the guidelines of his indefinite suspension. Does this mean for the past year, past six-months, past week, we do not know and the league has every right to deliberate whether he has sufficiently met the markers required. There are things the league is certainly looking into."

On Reggie Nelson

The Browns have not expressed anything other than passing interest to this point on S Reggie Nelson.

On the Draft

While the media continues to flip-flop on which QB the Browns will select with the #2 pick in the draft, from within Berea we have been told the following -

"I can honestly sit here and state, we have not decided on which player (QB) we will or would select with that pick (#2). We have not discounted numerous players, but the list has gotten much smaller. All the talk that we'll select Wentz or we'll select Goff is fabricated, we have not spoken on the process outside of this building."

On Strong Safety Position

Ibraheim Campbell in film study shows a +.02 reactionary quickness factor when compared to former Cleveland Browns SS Donte Whitner, according to a team source.

On Inside Linebackers

Christian Kirksey and Justin Tuggle have been penciled in to compete for the starting spot next to ILB Demario Davis.

On Offensive Line

Have been told if the season started today, John Greco would be at C, Alvin Bailey at RG and Austin Pasztor at RT.

On Josh McCown

The Browns have not had serious discussions with any team regarding QB Josh McCown.
