Name: Laquon Treadwell
Position: Wide Receiver
School: Ole Miss
Hands: 9 ½”
With great size and intangibles for the position, Treadwell absolutely passes the eye test. He plays the game effortlessly, playing larger than he actually is, and catching the ball fluidly with his hands.
He is at his best with the ball in the air, a pure pass catcher in one-on-one matchups against his defender. He knows how to use his leverage and angles to box out at the point of attack, and there are very few who will be able to beat him at the peak of a catch.
Does not have elite speed, will need to win the route battles to gain separation in the NFL, and may never have breakaway potential.
Sometimes struggles to get free from press coverage, lacks the violent hands that many consider necessary to win at the next level.
He will need to rely on hard work and polishing his game to be truly successful against higher-caliber NFL defenders.
For a wide receiver-depleted Cleveland Browns team who are no longer optimistic about Josh Gordon returning, Treadwell’s an obvious fit here.
A large receiver that can win and out-maneuver corners in the NFL, he can bring an immediate red-zone threat that Cleveland so sorely needs.
The big question will simply be if he lines up with how high they value wide receivers in the first round.
Treadwell is a no-brainer pick for any team needing a true No. 1 option. He has the size and the skill to be successful anywhere he goes in the NFL, as he should fit into any system as a down-field vertical threat.
While he will not out-run many cornerbacks, with his elite pass-catching ability, he should be able to separate and be highly productive.
