BEREA,Ohio--Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson, Jr. see a lot of potential in the running game in Hue Jackson's offense.
Johnson talked about the way they might be used this season.
“I know I am, especially just seeing the way he has used them in the past and splitting them out wide and getting the best out of them and using their strengths in every way he can," Johnson said after Wednesday's practice. "I am excited to see it. We are off to a good start already, but I am just happy to see how far and how in depth we go with the offense.”
The duo also were pleased that the Browns were confident in both of them to not add any running backs in the draft.
“That is just a confidence booster," Crowell said. "I feel like me and Duke both have what it takes to be a big threat on this level. Really, it just showed me that he [Head Coach Hue Jackson] has great confidence in us. We want to go out there and give them all we’ve got.”
Jackson had great success with Jeremy Hill and Gio Bernard in Cincinnati and Crowell and Johnson, Jr. hope they can be used in similar fashion.
“We are here to give him whatever he wants," Johnson said. "We don’t really have a name for it, just whatever he wants. Split out, running the ball, whatever coach wants, that’s we are here for.”
