CLEVELAND-- There's some good news and some bad news with Cameron Erving.
The good news is it appears that Erving is going to be alright physically. The bad news is he's likely going to miss some time.
After being taken to the hospital as a precaution after the game, Erving was diagnosed with a pulmonary contusion and he will remain in the hospital overnight for observation.
Erving was experiencing cramps toward the end of the game, as well as discomfort in his chest and ribs. He is in stable condition and is undergoing further testing at University Hospitals.
In 2013, Barkevious Mingo suffered a similar injury in his first preseason game and missed the rest of the preseason that year and it lingered into the regular season. The laymen's term for the injury is a 'bruised lung'.
The Browns have no other centers on the roster, but are expected to move right guard John Greco to center and insert Alvin Bailey into Greco's position at guard, if Erving cannot play next Sunday.
