BEREA,Ohio--Cody Kessler said he's excited to get a chance to play this week despite less than ideal circumstances.
With shoulder injuries to Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown in successive weeks, the door has been opened for the rookie quarterback from USC.
Kessler says he hopes to show that Hue Jackson was justified in drafting him in the third-round.
"It's been awesome too, because Hue has trusted in me through this whole process," Kessler said. "He really has. He knows that I'm excited to play for him. From day one, when you get a coach that loves you and really loves his players and wants you to succeed, it makes you want to play better.
"Coach Jackson has been really tough on me and really hard on me, but at the same time, because he wants the most from me," he said. "It's been great. I'm going to continue to work for him and keep working for this team and this organization."
