Cleveland Browns Week 5 Inactives: 5 Starters, 2 TEs

The Cleveland Browns look to face off with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots without 5 former starters and their two backup tight ends. This week's inactives:

It will be tough against the Pats no matter what but missing 5 former starters and your two backup tight ends can't help.

QB Josh McCown, WR Corey Coleman, and Cs Cameron Erving & Austin Reiter have all started but were expected to miss this game and probably a few more.

Once starting, and struggling, CB Tramon Williams was a game-time decision but will miss due to his AC joint issue. Against what we expect to be a pass happy Pats team, losing a corner is not ideal. Williams' struggles, however, make this statement less certain.

Backup tight ends Seth DeValve and Randall Telfer were both expected out but the latter may be the biggest miss. Telfer is the Browns best inline blocker in the run game and in pass protection.

Without those two, Connor Hamlett should see some time on the field. He is far from a good blocker but could be used split out wide to try to attack New England's coverage.

The Patriots, much like the Browns, try to be very versatile in their game plan. With Williams out and Brady back, expect them to be more pass happy. They will have to be a little concerned as the Browns return Carl Nassib today, will be playing with a cast, and Safety Ibraheim Campbell.

Hue Jackson will have to be creative in the run game with Telfer out. It is possible we see more 6 offensive linemen, with Spencer Drango or Shon Coleman taking on Telfer's blocking role.

For a Cleveland Browns team lacking talent already, not having these former starters or their primary blocking tight end can be highly problematic. Though, against this Pats team on this day, it may not matter much.

Any surprise inactives? How do you think the Browns counter?
