BEREA, Ohio--Joel Bitonio's third season ended as his second one did--on injured reserve.
The third year offensive lineman had foot surgery on Monday to repair a Lisfranc injury to his right foot injured in the Patriots game. A team spokesman said that Bitonio underwent successful surgery late Monday. The team expects a full recovery for the start of the 2017 season.The injury is to the ligaments and bones on the top of the foot.
"You never want to end the season hurt and that's two years in a row for me now,'' Bitonio said last week when he was placed on injured reserve. "It's just not something that I'm used to. I've never been hurt in my life till the last two years. A couple freak accidents, but I'm going to come back and I'm going to work my tail my off and do everything in my power to come back better next season."
Bitonio missed the final six games of the 2015 season on injured reserve with a foot injury.
