Cleveland Browns' NFL Draft Week 14 Rooting Interests

During the Bye Week, many found this helpful. With 4 weeks left in the season, time to take a look at what games Browns fans should be focused on.

During the Cleveland Browns bye week, many things went the team's way when it comes to the NFL Draft, especially in regards to the pick they own from the Philadelphia Eagles.

As of today, the Browns own the 1st and 9th pick in the 1st Round of the Draft plus the Tennessee Titans pick in the 2nd Round, which currently would be 46th overall. With the Browns 2nd Rounder #33, the team would own 4 of the Top 46 picks in the upcoming Draft.

What a way to turn things around!

So it is time to take a look at this week's games and what Browns fans should be rooting for, specifically for Draft considerations.

To be clear, the higher picks will always get the priority. So, in order, the Browns 1st Rounder, the Eagles 1st Rounder and the Titans 2nd Rounder are priority.

Browns 1st Rounder

1PM

Browns Vs Bengals - To be clear, this is only related to Draft considerations. Rooting for the Browns to lose isn't in most fans' blood but with the Niners with only 1 win, a victory creates a concern for the team. The Browns currently have the strongest Strength of Schedule. In terms of the NFL Draft, this is a bad thing. If they are tied with any team, they would lose the tiebreaker and get the lesser pick.

In this game, the Bengals record also play a role but that will be discussed in the Eagles pick.

Jaguars Vs Vikings - The Jaguars currently sit with 2 victories but with Robert Griffin III returning, the Browns could pull off a couple of wins still this season. One more victory for the Jags could end any hope they have of the #1 overall pick.

4PM

Jets Vs Niners - In a game of bad teams, the Niners got beat down by the Bears last week. In a game of bad teams, the Browns want the Niners to beat the Jets this week. With only 1 victory, the Niners could swoop in and take the #1 overall pick if the Browns win. This seems like the Niners last best chance for a victory. The Browns should also be rooting for all of the Niners opponents to win out, for SOS reasons, but that is way too much to write up.

If everything goes the Browns way, they stay in the #1 overall pick with the Niners now 2 games in front of them and the Jags 3 games.

Eagles 1st Rounder

1PM

Washington Vs Philadelphia - The Eagles have been a slide over the last month and that is great news for the Browns. Washington is fighting for their Playoff lives while the Eagles seemed to fold up shop last week. The remaining 4 opponents on the Eagles schedule have Playoff aspirations, we will talk about the Cowboys in a second, so losing out seems like a possibility!

Bengals Vs Browns - At 4 - 7 - 1, the Bengals sit a half game behind the Eagles. Should the Bengals beat the Browns, and the Eagles lose, the Bengals would jump over the Eagles in the standings by a half game.

Chargers Vs Panthers - The Panthers sit at 4 - 8, just a game behind the Eagles. Benching Cam for a series last week seemed to doom them against the Seahawks. Never fear, we are their fans once again. A Panthers win, along with the Eagles and Chargers losing, would tie all 3 teams at 5 - 8. The Eagles and Panthers have close SOS so who wins their tiebreaker would be tight at this point but a Panthers win is still helpful.

4PM

Saints Vs Bucs - The Saints are currently tied with the Eagles so another victory will take them out of the tiebreaker scenario. Not a hugely vital game, at least this week, but could play a role at the end of the season.

Rooting for Saints over the Bucs

Falcons Vs Rams - The Rams, like the Panthers, sit one game behind the Eagles. It is tough to predict wins for them, especially against the Falcons, but a victory at least moves them into a tie with the Eagles. The Rams SOS is weak so they would win a tiebreaker for now but still could help move the Eagles pick up by season's end.

Cowboys Vs Giants - The Cowboys play the Eagles at the end of the year. Given their current 1 loss record, Dallas is likely to sit their starters that week. If they lose a few games, that might change. Officially, the Browns are fans of whoever the Cowboys play so that Dallas is forced to play their starters in Week 17.

If everything goes the Browns way, the Eagles would be tied for the 6th pick. Based on current SOS, the Eagles pick would be likely be 8th, only a 1 spot improvement, but would have hopes all the way down to 6th if the rest of the season goes perfectly.

Titans 2nd Rounder

1PM

Titans Vs Broncos - An easy one, the Titans lose and they drop to 6 - 7 and could hurt their chances to fight for the AFC South division. Anything to hurt their hope and will to win down the stretch would be huge.

Rooting for Broncos over the Titans

Cardinals Vs Dolphins - Arizona, much like the Bengals scenario above, sit only a half game behind the Titans. A win this week, along with a Titans loss, bumps them above Tennessee's pick.

Steelers Vs Bills - The Bills, at 6 - 6, are one of two .500 teams that can actually help the Titans pick today. Beating the Steelers is just an added bonus.

4PM

Packers Vs Seahawks - Unlike the other 6 - 6 teams, who either play each other or are more importantly involved in games involving the Eagles pick, the Packers and Bills are in play to help the Titans pick.

Saints Vs Bucs - The Saints winning could be a double benefit for the Eagles and Titans pick, bumping them up to a tie with the Titans, if things go as planned.

If everything goes the Browns way, the Titans pick would be tied for 11th in the 2nd Round, #43. With one of the easiest SOS in the league, the Titans should win those tiebreakers and be giving the Browns the 43rd pick.
