Browns trade down from No. 12 with Texans for 2018 first

Rather than trade up to get a quarterback, the Browns traded down from the 12th overall pick to the Texans so Houston could draft Deshaun Watson

BEREA, Ohio--Trader Sashi is at it again.

With all of the speculation about the Browns trading up from No. 12 to get their quarterback, the Browns went the opposite direction and traded down.
When it came the Browns turn to pick at 12, they elected to trade down with the Houston Texans in order for the Texans to draft Deshaun Watson.

The Browns traded spots with the Texans in the first round down 15 spots (25th overall) and received the Texans first-round pick in 2018 to make the move.

In making the trade, the Browns passed on not only Watson, but other players on the board at the time were Malik Hooker, Jonathan Allen, O.J. Howard, among others.

Early in the draft after the Browns selected Myles Garrett with the first pick, the Bears traded up from No. 3 to No. 2 to select quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, considered a target of the Browns. The second quarterback taken was Patrick Mahomes by the Chiefs at No. 10, two spots before the Browns.

After the trade,  DeShone Kizer and Davis Webb are the highest rated quarterbacks left by most draft experts.
