"I moved from Hawaii when I was 10", Faine told the journalists, "My dad was stationed in the Navy over in Hawaii for the first 10 years of my life. I moved to Florida in 1991 and went to Seminole High School in Sanford, Fla. and went to Notre Dame and now is now."
Somewhere in the middle of that simplified version of his first 20 years, Jeff Faine gained the determination and mental toughness which compelled Butch Davis to make him the Browns 1st round pick in the 2003 draft.
His new head coach puts him in the category of "...guys that are football junkies and absolutely love the game and have passion about it and are tough and nasty and love getting muddy and bloody and stuff. How can you not love a guy like that for the Cleveland Browns?"
The Irish are known for tough, slug-it-out linemen up front that dominate opponents. In Jeff Faine they developed one that also plays a brilliant brand of football. Faine's excellents was recognized at the college level by his selection to numerous All-American teams and by his being a finalist for the Lombardi and Remington Awards.
