Jason Geathers Scouting Report

Bernie's Insiders obsessive (in a good way, we hope) coverage of the draft continues today with news on undrafted players the Browns are now aggressively chasing. First up, a scouting report on exciting receiver / running back Jason Geathers, who reportedly agreed to a free agent deal late Sunday night.

Name Jason Geathers
School Miami-Fl
Year 4Sr
Ht 6-2.5
Wt 210
40 4.44
Pos WR

Bio: Top reserve at Miami that saw extensive action at both receiver and running back. Finished his senior campaign carrying the ball 35/151/1 with pass catching numbers of 23/277/3. Junior rushing totals were 68/398/3 with an 21.7 yard average on 24 kick returns.

Positives: Top athlete who's yet to find a single position on the football field. Quick footed carrying the ball, side steps opponents and displays speed. Solid pass catching skills; runs good routes, extends and catches the ball with his hands. Works back to the quarterback getting separation from opponents, makes the difficult catch in the middle of the field and flashes explosion.

Negatives: Moved all over the field and never given the chance to fully develop at either receiver or running back. Known as an adequate worker that prefers to carry the ball.

Analysis: Originally expected to move to receiver as a junior, Geathers was forced into the Hurricane backfield after injuries hit the team hard. An explosive athlete with a variety of skills, Geathers could develop into a fine receiver at the next level if given a chance to develop.
