Browns Release LB Bryan Hickman

The Browns confirmed for us today that linebacker Bryan Hickman has been released.

The Browns confirmed for us today that LB Bryan Hickman, an undrafted free agent from Kansas State, has been released. No reason for the decision was provided for the club. The team also confirmed the release of another recent free agent signee, Hakeem Kashama, who was also a late-signing free agent.

The release of Hickman comes as a bit of a surprise, as he was a well-regarded free agent acquisition. Hickman, for example, was listed as one of the top undrafted rookies by the Sports Network, among others. Hickman finished second on last year's Kansas State squad in tackles, following only fellow Brown undrafted free agent Josh Buhl, who was the Division 1-A tackles leader.

The signing of last week of David Moretti keeps the Browns at four middle linebackers along with Andra Davis, Barry Gardner, Mason Unck. Click here to see our (highly speculative) depth chart.

Kashama, a defensive end from the University of Connecticut, was signed by the Browns on May 20th, but faced an uphill battle on a team relatively deep at the position. Kashama's teammate, Uyi Osunde, remains with the team, but has not been able to practice due to injury.
