The gang at Bernie's Insiders is putting the finishing touches on Bernie's Insiders July Season Preview issue, which will be mailed to to our subscribers next month.
Our Season Preview focuses on the off-season changes on the Browns, and the increased role of Head Coach Butch Davis, as well as providing a look at some of the changes that will be seen on the field in 2004.
Two of Cleveland's most experienced Browns analysts take a look at what the team's front office overhaul will mean for players and fans. In our feature story, Jeff Schudel discusses Butch Davis' ascendance and talks to those in-the-know about what it will mean to the team. Frank Derry provides a look at Davis' career from the eyes of the players who know him best - ex-Hurricanes who have joined the team in Cleveland.
Based on your feedback, we will also continue to introduce you to players who have joined the Browns in recent months. Rich Swerbinsky talks to new defensive lineman Ebenezer Ekuban in an interview sure to pump up the Dawg Pound. Guest contributor Christopher Stock, from TheInsiders.com's Miami Hurricane affiliate, talks to rookie free agent Jason Geathers, an intriguing rookie free agent who selected the Browns over 18 other contract offers!
In our last issue, we provided in-depth stories on the Browns' draft choices. This time out, Michael Desmond completes our look at the new Browns by discussing the undrafted rookie free agents who joined the team in May and June.
We also offer our analysis of training camp battles, as Barry McBride takes an in-depth look at the competition for starting jobs at five different positions, including the red-hot battle for carries between William Green and Lee Suggs. Another popular feature returns, as long-time Bernie's Insiders analyst Lane Adkins provides his insight throughout this issue - look for the gray "analysis" boxes providing another point of view scattered through the issue!
We also circle back to the theme of the issue in our regular features celebrating the Browns heralded past.
John Keim's Flashback this month takes a look at Blanton Collier's ascendance to the position of head coach - following in the footsteps of the legendary Paul Brown. Steve King, of the Medina Gazette and The Sporting News, joins Bernie's Insiders with a fascinating look back at an eerie parallel between this off-season and the Sam Rutigliano-era Browns. Will history repeat? Doug Dieken provides some perspective in Steve's debut in Bernie's Insiders magazine.
Plus, depth chart analysis, Vox Populi, and commentaries from Brian Tarcy, Frank Derry, and, of course, #19 himself - Bernie Kosar!
