Percy Ellsworth's playing days with the Browns might be close to an end.
The free safety was placed on reserve-injured and is done for the season due to a quadriceps injury. Even before the injury, Ellsworth had lost his starting assignment to Devin Bush.
Ellsworth's locker was cleaned out on Friday. Most players on IR remain in the facility to rehabilitate their injuries.
Ellsworth is fifth in tackles with 71, but he has failed to make big plays. Coach Butch Davis noted that when asked about Ellsworth's performance this season.
"We have 27 interceptions as a team. He (Ellsworth) has one," Davis said.
Ellsworth signed with the Browns prior to the 2000 season. Prior to then, he had gained a reputation as a ball hawk by intercepting 18 passes in four seasons with the New York Giants.
