MEDIA RELEASE

Cleveland January  From 1981 to 1990, we've witnessed Browns Team Captain, #51 Eddie Johnson "assassinate" his opponents.  He has proven to be one of the toughest Browns Linebackers of all time.

Eddie is not only tough on the football field; he's tough off the field as well.  He has begun his toughest battle yet, a battle with Colon Cancer.  He began his battle in November 2000.  During that time Eddie underwent surgery and extensive treatment.  Recently, it has become necessary to begin treatment again.

Johnson says, "This illness has been very stressful for me and my family.  However; we have remained prayerful and believe that God will help us through this".

"We are very concerned about our teammate and friend". Says Cleo Miller, President of the Cleveland Chapter of NFL Alumni Association.  "Eddie has assured us that this is one battle he intends to win".

Although Eddie has tremendous support from his family, church family, teammates and friends, we ask that you include him in your thoughts and pray for a speedy recovery.

Currently, NFL Alumni Association is planning a fund-raiser to assist Eddie with medical costs.  We will inform you of the details as they become available.
