WEB BUZZ: EXPANSION DRAFT POSSIBILITIES

The expansion draft has historically be a place to put the overpriced, the has-beens, the never-will-bes, the mental cases, and the occasional gem (see: Warner, Kurt). Who will the Browns make available during the upcoming expansion draft?

RUMOR: WHO WILL THE BROWNS MAKE AVAILABLE TO THE TEXANS?

STATUS: THE LID'S ON TIGHTER THAN TUPPERWARE

RUMOR TRACKING:

1/20/2002: Jeff Schudel speculates in today's News-Herald (article not on the web) that the Browns could expose the following: DB Lamar Chapman, LB/S Marquis Smith, OT Roman Oben, DL Devonne Claybrooks, OG Jeremy McKinney, QB Josh Booty, RB Carl Fair. Jeff is usually on-target in his speculation, but the shocker to me in that list would be McKinney. With the Browns thin on the offensive line, giving away a reasonably-priced future backup like McKinney would surprise me. Then again, I'm clueless. Far more informed are Lane and John, who discuss some names which may appear on the Browns list in their weekly Sunday Morning Massacre column. (AB)

1/20/2002: Bill Rabinowitz does a little speculating in the Columbus Dispatch today, and mentions Roman Oben and Dennis Northcutt as expansion draft possibilities. He backs off a little, then stating that players like Lamar Chapman are usually what you would see on the list. (AB)
