WEB BUZZ: KEENAN MCCARDELL

You know it. We know it. So it's a safe guess that Butch sure knows it.... this team has to give KJ and The Deuce some real help in 2003. With that in mind, could it be that the Browns are looking to rescue an old friend from the depths of cap hell?

=== DOSSIER: WR KEENAN MCCARDELL ===

POSSIBLE TRADE: WAITING FOR HIM TO POP FREE

STATUS: THE TEXANS HAVE FIRST DIBS

RUMOR TRACKER:

3/6/2002: We haven't heard about Keenan in a while, but down in Jacksonville they're talking about releasing him after June 1. The problem from the Jags perspective is that they might lose their #2 reciever Sean Dawkins as well. Check out the agent's comments... (snicker).

2/7/2002: Thanks to many friends on the Tipline, we were alerted to a story from the Florida Times-Union about an old friend. Apparently, the Jaguars are fully aware that Keenan McCardell might get snapped up by the Browns if he escapes from the Land of Truck Stops during the Jaguars exciting 2002 production of Escape from Cap Hell.

The question is whether or not the Browns will pay for some tutoring as McCardell re-acquaints himself with modern society after an extended stint in Jacksonville. Imagine discovering the possibility of a conversation without repeated use of the phrase "I heard that" after all this time. Imagine seeing the stands full of fans even when it's not a playoff game. Clearly, this would take some re-adjustment for the Jags WR, but the Browns seem willing to risk that the cultural time-warp won't hurt his on-field production. Hopefully, they can find someone willing to explain the notion of "the Internet" to him, or he'll never get to see cultural advances like X10 camera ads, great financial opportunities and weight-loss techniques arriving daily in your email box, or mass NFL rumor dissemination. (Shudder)
