Cleveland February - The Cleveland Chapter of NFL Alumni Association's 1st annual "United in Need" benefit held Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Thistledown Racing Club was deemed a success.

More than 450 well-wishers of all walks of life gathered together at Thistledown last Saturday night in honor of former Cleveland Browns Linebacker Eddie Johnson.

The event included a wine reception, live & silent auction and a roast & toast from Eddie's friends, Cleveland Sports Media and teammates including Hanford Dixon, Bernie Kosar, Reggie Langhorne, Gerald "Ice-Cube" McNeil, Greg Pruitt, Munch Bishop, Les Levine and Tony Rizzo. Among the 40+ Browns Alumni in attendance included out-of-towners Walter Beach, Stephen Braggs, Judson Flint, Robert "Stone Wall" Jackson, Bobby Jones and Curtis Weathers along with local alumni Dick Ambrose, Ben Davis, Johnny Davis, Ricky Feacher, Herman Fontenot, Doug Dieken, Robert Jackson, Mike Pruitt, Reggie Rucker and Felix Wright.

"The tremendous support from our teammates, friends and the Northeast Ohio community was overwhelming" says Cleo Miller, President of the Cleveland Chapter of the NFL Alumni Association. "It is evident that Eddie Johnson is well loved in this community".
When asked how he felt about the event, Eddie say's "I knew it would be a good event, but I was not prepared for the amount of love & support from all of those who attended. I feel truly blessed".

On behalf of the Johnson family and the Cleveland Chapter NFL Alumni Association, we would like to thank you all. Because of your support, we raised in excess of $60,000 to assist Eddie with his medical cost and assure that he receives some of the necessary medical assistance he requires.

Currently the Cleveland Chapter of NFL Alumni Association is in the planning stages for the 2nd annual "United In Need" benefit scheduled for spring of 2003. We will keep you informed as more information becomes available.
