WEB BUZZ: VICTOR RILEY

Sources are beginning to tie in Victor Riley with the Browns... Is the RT a fit? After all those who have been thrown out onto the field in the past three seasons (Orlando Brown, Steve Zahursky, Roger Chanoine to name a few), it's about time for the Browns to solidify the position.

=== DOSSIER: VICTOR RILEY ===

STATUS: WOULDN'T IT BE NICE TO KNOW WHO THE BROWNS' RT IS?

RUMOR TRACKER:

3/4/2002: Riley will be in Cleveland tomorrow, according to CNNSI's Don Banks.

3/4/2002: Interesting tidbit from Len Pilsnerquaffer again that I spotted this morning. The Chiefs are apparently ripping Riley to anyone who asks about him, but at the same time have his agent on speed dial and are trying to resign a contract. Look near the bottom of this column.

3/3/2002: The Riley story picks up steam over the weekend as the tackle schedules a visit to C-town. CNN/SI reports on it, along with Griffith and Hearst. CBS Sportsline says Riley could get a deal done next week (but doesn't mention the Browns. ESPN's Len Pastrywrecker comments that Riley is now the best tackle out there since the franchise tag was used so aggressively at the position this year. If you don't get Riley, Lenny P. opines, "the pickings are slim". Not physically, of course, but metaphorically.

2/28/2002: Chiefs RT Victor Riley has been mentioned as a good fit for the Browns offensive line by USA Today and other sources. A Riley signing would hope to end the parade of players who have lined up at that position in the past three years.
