Today Bernie's Insiders introduces another new feature, as the Bernie's Insiders Radio Show becomes available as an MP3 podcast. The podcast is integrated with our News Tablet, but can also be used with other easily available tools. The podcasting service is another free feature from BerniesInsiders.com.
What is a Podcast?
According to Wikipedia, it is making audio files (most commonly in MP3 format) available online in a way that allows software to automatically download the files for listening at the user's convenience.
By subscribing to the Bernie's Insiders podcast, you can download the MP3 file and play it whenever you have time, burn it to CD, or upload it to your iPod or other portable MP3 player.
Using the News Tablet
Accessing the podcast from the Bernie's Insider News Tablet is simple. The podcast news feed will show up automatically in the News Tablet the next time it checks our server for headlines. Every time we post a new podcast, it will show up in the News Tablet under the "Bernies Insiders Podcast" feed.
You can then download the MP3 file by right-clicking the radio show item and selecting "Download Enclosure". You can then save the file to your hard drive. The graphic accompanying this story shows how this is done.
Using Other Podcasting Tools
If you are not a News Tablet user, you can also find the podcast via other free tools available for download on the Internet. One that I have been using is iPodder, an open-source application which downloads selected podcasts as they become available. The application is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms.
In addition, Steve Jobs announced recently that Podcast capabilities will be built into Version 4.9 of iTunes.
The podcast file that you should put into whatever tool you wish to use is:
About the Radio Show
The Bernie's Insiders radio show is the only objective and independent weekly radio show covering the Cleveland Browns, and debuted last month on SportsTalkCleveland.com. The web radio show, the first of its kind, is broadcast each Tuesday night from 9PM and runs until the gang calls it quits. It was intended to be a one-hour show, but has been going longer as the Bernie's Insiders crew tries to get through as many phone calls and emails as possible.
The Browns themselves, who are attempting to establish their own team-owned media properties, pushed a similar web radio show into production this week. There is no timeframe available on when ClevelandBrowns.com staff will be able to copy the RSS and podcast features we've introduced today.
