The Cleveland Browns have signed five players to the practice squad, only hours after signing recently cut (Houston Texans) TE Billy Miller. None of the players selected could really be considered surprises.
Slipping through waivers to the team's practice squad were: TE Paul Irons, LB Justin Kurpeikis RB Sultan McCullough, DL J'Vonne Parker, and WR Brandon Rideau. Rideau had originally been reported as having made the team's roster, but was later waived in order to make room for Miller.
In each case, the players re-signed to the team's practice squad had established themselves during the Browns pre-season play as bubble players. Irons, McCullough and Rideau had all received a great deal of attention in recent weeks as being roster possibilities, and Parker and Kurpeikis both played well when given the opportunity.
The Browns still have several practice squad slots available and are undoubtedly continuing to scan the waiver wires to find players with some potential upside. More updates as they become available...
