D'Qwell Jackson to the Browns in Round 2

The Browns quickly solidify their linebacking corps with an inside linebacker in Round 2.

The Browns dealt Jeff Faine to the New Orleans Saints, enabling them to move up ten draft positions, and selected standout Maryland linebacker D'Qwell Jackson to help solidify the linebacker position.

Jackson is one of the top-rated inside linebackers available, and gives the Browns a corps of six solid linebackers for Todd Grantham and Romeo Crennel to work with during the 2006 season. The Browns linebacking corps now has the possibililty of being an impressive system of rotating players including Chaun Thompson, Kamerion Wimbley, Andra Davis, Matt Stewart, Willie McGinest, and Jackson.

Crennel's defense on the Super Bowl-winning Patriots teams often used six or more linebackers in a rotation to keep pressure on offensive lines.

Jackson was the second highest-rated inside linebacker according to Tony Pauline and TFY Draft in this year's deep crop at the position.
