Wimbley Contract Update: 7/20

UPDATED 9:45PM - The OBR continues to provide the most up-to-date reports on the progress of Wimbley's contract talks. Here is the latest...

According to a league source, the Cleveland Browns and the agent for their first-round selection Kamerion Wimbley are set to resume contract discussions tomorrow.

Long-time player agent Joe Linta is scheduled to arrive at the club's Berea Ohio headquarters on Friday morning. The only rookie contract holdout Linta's had in his 18 years in the business was back in 1995 with first-round selection Kyle Brady (Jets).

"It's my intention to stay until we get a deal done," Linta told scout.com Thursday evening.

Wimbley was the thirteenth selection in this year's NFL draft. Other than first-pick Mario Williams, no first round picks have signed to date. Many NFL clubs are waiting until the financial "slotting" of top picks becomes clearer before committing to contracts. Signings should continue to accelerate in coming days as training camps begin.

As of Thursday afternoon, the Browns had signed four of their 10 draft selections.
