The Cleveland Browns have signed first-round draft choice LB Kamerion Wimbley to a six-year contract through the 2011 season, the team announced today. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Wimbley was the thirteenth overall selection in the 2006 NFL Draft.
"We are extremely pleased to have Kamerion (Wimbley) signed prior to the start of training camp," said Phil Savage, Browns Senior Vice President and General Manager. "We are looking forward to seeing Kamerion grow and develop as a member of the Browns."
Wimbley (6-3, 245, Florida State), played in 49 games, including 12 starts, and finished his collegiate career with 108 tackles, 67 solo, 12 sacks for 85 yards, 31 quarterback pressures, 23.5 tackles for loss, three recovered fumbles, one forced fumble and eight passes defensed.
As a senior in 2005, Wimbley took over the right defensive end position and totaled 26 tackles, 11 solo, 11 tackles for loss, 17 quarterback pressures, seven and one-half sacks for 56 yards and four passes defensed. His 11 tackles for loss rank tied for nineteenth on the school's season-record list.
