Tre Johnson (knee), Earl Holmes (knee, unlikely),
Tonight's preseason game against the Detroit Lions is going to be centered around establishing positive momentum. The process of moving forward has been in the works for weeks, tonight the Browns take center stage in this initial showing.
What to Look For: Offense
The Browns first-team offense is expected play the majority of the first-half. The juggle aling the offensive line will continue for another week as starting right guard, Tre' Johnson will not play against the Lions.
The Browns will go into the game tonight attempting to rush the football. Jamel White has earned the start, but first-round draft selection William Green will see action with the first-team offense a considerable amount of action with the first-team offense tonight.
Look for Green and White to line up in the same backfield as the Browns will work both players into the offensive scheme to create mismatches.
Recently signed fullbacks Chris Floyd and Kevin McLeod will get lengthy opportunities against the Lions, as the Browns look to replace JJ. Johnson.
The Browns will look to build upon a good offensive effort the team had in Minnesota. Wide receivers Andre Davis, Dennis Northcutt, and Frisman Jackson are expected to have their playing time increased to evaluate the depth and ability of the players in game time competition.
What to Look For: Defense
Saturday night will be the first test the Browns will face without All-Pro outside linebacker Jamir Miller. During practices this past week, Anthony Denman, Ben Taylor, Kevin Bentley, and Arnold Miller have taken snaps from the strong-side linebacker position.
Bentley and Miller are expected to see action in the "Rover" position that Miller manned. The first-team defense is expected to see action well into the second quarter of the game.
An interesting matchup tonight will the be Browns defensive line versus the offensive line of the Lions. Detroit struggled upfront against the Ravens last week and are fighting injury issues along the line.
Against the Minnesota Vikings one-week ago, the Browns first-team defensive got off to a sluggish start and look to improve upon that effort.
