Tuesday AM Practice Notes

David Carducci reports from this morning's practice session. Get the Inside scoop on who is moving up, who is moving down, and who may be dropping the ball on a big opportunity.

BEREA - The most notable on-field change from Tuesday morning was at middle linebacker, where rookie Andra Davis worked with the first team during full-team drills.

With the Browns continuing to rest Earl Holmes' knee, several different players have auditioned for the position should the veteran free agent pickup not be ready by the start of the season. Brant Boyer is listed as Holmes' back up, but with his inclusion on most special teams, the nickel and short-yardage packages, the Browns may be worried of overextending him. Lenoy Jones worked was the first-team middle linebacker during Monday's practice.

Lewis Sanders did not practice in the morning. We will have the reason in the afternoon.

Andre Davis had a very strong practice that included a diving catch on the sideline on an underthrown ball from Josh Booty. The acrobatic play drew the days loudest cheers.

Joaquin Gonzalez continues to improve and grow more comfortable in his rookie camp. He looked very good during 11-on-11 drills while pass blocking against Tyrone Rogers.

For the second day in a row, Frisman Jackson had trouble holding on to the football. Frisman dropped two passes during 11-on-11. He also dropped several passes after thunderstorms forced Monday afternoon's practice indoors. While Jackson has been one of the stories of training camp, flashing athleticism and playmaking ability, he has not shown consistency of late. Davis has said that showing consistency is the most important thing for a player hoping to make this football team. Jackson also had a problem with drops in his first practice following the scrimmage with the Bills.

Defensive tackle Cecil Caldwell had to be carted from the field after suffering a leg injury. We will have more on that later.
