Contrasting statements from Butch Davis and Carmen Policy take center-stage the day after the Browns cut the roster down to 53 players. While this site reported on the <A HREF=http://browns.theinsiders.com/2/61621.html">underlying causes</A> of Couch's elbow problems on Saturday, Dayton Daily News reporter Sean McClelland zooms in on seeming differences in Policy and Davis' thoughts on bringing Couch back. It's <A HREF="http://www.brownstng.com/browns/news/btng_newswire.asp">on the Wire!</A>
Also on today's newswire is a difficult look at the pain of roster cuts, particularly in the case of well-liked Browns OG Tre Johnson. Look to Steve Doerschuck for that report in the Canton Repository. Props also to Steve for his look at Mark Campbell stepping up to a starting role, which hasn't recieved a lot of attention yet.
There are some nice summaries of yesterday's events in a number of different articles from the usual suspects. From the reports, it sounds like Peter King is about to unleash a hum-dinger of an article on the behind-the-scenes activity in Berea, although Davis will have to take the Brian Billick Ego Inflation Course before he's ready to let HBO cameras follow him around.
There are some slight differences in reports on Carmen Policy's statements hoping that the Browns don't have Couch throw until Wednesday. One report says that the statements were on TV, another said the radio. I didn't hear him make them myself, so I'm not sure. It sounds like something Policy might say via his platform on WTAM.
At any rate, there's some good stuff in today's wire. Check it out.
