Jottings from the Reporter's Notebook during the Browns 33-30 win over the Baltimore Ravens...
Streak Intact: The Ravens are now 0-6 when trailing at the half.
Mistakes, Mistakes: The Browns shot themselves in the foot throughout the game with mistakes on penalties and turnovers. After they moved into the Ravens' red zone, they had five penalties that pushed them back and they settled for a field goal. In the second half, the Browns had to punt from the 40 after a penalty that would've allowed them to attempt a field goal when they were trailing 14-13. The Browns were penalized 12 times for 104 yards.
Get Carter: WR Tim Carter made a nice 10-yard third down catch to keep a drive going. Carter was questionable throughout the week. The play was challenged and upheld.
The Challenger: Romeo Crennel went into the game having challenged calls 21 times, losing 19 of them. He did win a challenge against the Steelers that resulted in a Braylon Edwards touchdown. He challenged the play that KR Joshua Cribbs was down by contact on a kickoff return after the Ravens' touchdown and it was overturned. Winning the last two-of-three, Crennel is on a roll.
Big Joe: WR Joe Jurevicius caught a 50-yard pass from QB Derek Anderson on the final play of the first quarter. Jurevicius caught four passes for 82 yards. Braylon Edwards had eight receptions for 85 yards and Kellen Winslow had five catches for 64 yards.
Sack Attack: The Browns had a season-high six sacks. Kamerion Wimbley sacked QB Kyle Boller in the first quarter and forced a fumble in the first quarter. LB Willie McGinest and DB Brodney Pool combined to sack Boller later in the first quarter. The Browns picked up their third sack as DL Orpheus Roye and LB Leon Williams combined to get to Boller. DL Robaire Smith made the fourth sack to end the third quarter. Williams got the fifth and Smith the sixth.
Special Effort: Special team phenom Joshua Cribbs forced a fumble on a punt by Dave Zastudil as he hit Cory Ross. Mike Adams recovered the ball at the Ravens' 28. However, the Browns couldn't convert as Phil Dawson pushed the field goal attempt wide right from 35 yards. Cribbs had several nice returns, including a 50-yard kickoff return and a 24-yard punt return that set up a Browns' touchdown. Cribbs had seven kick returns for 245 yards and four punt returns for 61 yards, accounting for 301 yards.
Jamal's Return: RB Jamal Lewis returned to Baltimore for the first time since leaving the Ravens as a free agent in the off-season. It was Lewis' 100th career NFL game. In the first quarter, Lewis caught a screen pass for 25 yards, but spiked the ball and drew an unsportsmanlike penalty for 15 yards after the play. He rushed for 92 yards and caught two passes for 31 yards. Lewis scored the Browns' first touchdown in the second quarter, which was his seventh of the season.
Big Play Safeties: S Brodney Pool intercepted a pass and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. Sean Jones hit QB Kyle Boller as he threw the ball. Jones intercepted a deep pass intended for WR Mark Clayton in the first quarter from Boller. The Browns were unable to take advantage of the opportunity.
