The Cleveland Browns continue to look at loading up their roster with veterans as GM Phil Savage tries to gear up the team to make a run at the playoffs in 2008.
Here are some tidbits which crossed our desk this afternoon:
- Veteran WR Troy Brown may have an interest in the Browns,
according to the Boston Herald. A "source with knowledge of the
situation" (whatever that means) reports that the Browns have contacted
Brown and are looked favorably on as a landing spot thanks to Romeo Crennel.
- Chaun Thompson will be visiting Houston today. The unrestricted free agent
graduated from football powerhouse West Texas A&M and may be interested in
returning to his home state. As we've reported over the last several weeks,
Thompson would like to see if it's possible to play a larger role on
defense. The linebacker has been yanked from position-to-position and
scheme-to-scheme during his stay in Cleveland, and has been making his
biggest impact on special teams in recent years.
- As we relayed on the Watercooler earlier today and via Hot News a couple of days ago, the team has re-signed Gary Baxter and Charles Ali to one-year contracts. Baxter is continuing his comeback from dual patellar tears and would be the first NFL player to come back form such a devastating injury should he return to action with the team. Baxter will likely get a shot at playing safety over the summer.
