Injury Tidbits

The OBR continues its long-standing tradition of looking at the official injury reports, chuckling, and telling folks the real scoop. We actually chuckle, as odd as that sounds. *Chuckle* See? Here is Lane's latest info on the real state of the Browns...

- Starting safety Sean Jones as been practicing this week and appears poised to reclaim his starting spot. Jones played in the regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, only to have knee surgery following the Browns loss. Mike Adams has played well in Jones' absence and will remain a vital member of the defensive backfield.

- With Jones appearing headed to a start against the Washington Redskins this Sunday, Adams will be the primary backup to Jones and free safety Brodney Pool, while moving into in slot nickel cover corner.

- RT Kevin Shaffer (concussion) and Ryan Tucker (knee) are expected to split time at right tackle against the Redskins.

- As noted by this column earlier in the week, TE Kellen Winslow will play Sunday against the Redskins, barring any further complications from illness. Winslow has been at the Browns training facility and was on the field in practice sessions on Friday.

- WR Donte Stalworth (quad) came away from his first game action against the New York Giants unscathed and is physically ready for the Washington game.

- Starting LG Eric Steinbach's shoulder remains less that 100-percent, but the veteran lineman has played well and the injury has not inhibited his effectiveness.

- Starting FS Brodney Pool (lower-leg) is fine and the mild injury suffered by the starter in the Browns 35-14 victory against the Giants is a non-factor.

- With Winslow being slated to return this week, rookie TE Martin Rucker (knee) will continue to practice, but will see no significan opportunities at the present time.

- Rookie ILB Beau Bell has been practicing with the team and is relegated near the bottom of the positional depth chart. Barring injury or spectacular practice time by the rookie, Bell will remain a non-factor again this week, but may be activated for special teams play.
