The Browns had three first quarter interceptions and were only able to produce six points.
On first down, Brady Quinn bootlegged for 11 yards and then Quinn hit Charles Ali for 12 yards to the 25. After a two-yard run by Jamal Lewis, Quinn threw a pass that Braylon Edwards had his hands on at the five, but couldn't hang on thus forcing the field goal.
The Browns added another field goal by Dawson to make it 6-0 with 2:28 to play in the first quarter after Brandon McDonald intercepted Edwards at the Bills' 12. On first down, the Browns tried a reverse to Donte Stallworth which resulted in a four-yard loss. After two incomplete passes, the Browns settled for the field goal.
The Browns increased their lead to 13-0 with 9:52 to play in the first half as they drove 96 yards for a touchdown as Josh Cribbs took an inside handoff for a two- yard score. Ironically, the Browns started in their worst field position at their own four after starting three times previously after interceptions.
The Browns were aided by an illegal contact call on their first third down attempt as Kellen Winslow was grabbed. After the penalty that kept the drive alive, Quinn hit Edwards three times for 20-, 18-, and 10-yards. He also hit Winslow for 14 yards. A 16-yard run by Lewis took the ball to the three and Cribbs took it in on the next play. The Browns had the ball for 12 plays and 5:57.
After the Browns score, The Bills scored 10 unanswered points to make it 13-10 at the half. The Bills had just 54 yards and three turnovers on their first three possessions and then gained over 100 yards on their next two possessions.
With a 13-0 lead, the Bills mounted their first drive of the night and made it 13-7 with 6:20 to play as Marshawn Lynch took a short pass from Edwards and seven Browns defenders missed tackles on his way to a 18-yard score.
After a three-and-out for the Browns, the Bills picked up where they left off and proceeded to move right down the field once again and made it 13-10 as time expired when Rian Lindell booted a 26-yard field goal.
Tough with Lead: The Browns defense has problems playing with a lead as evidenced the previous two weeks when the team blew 14- and 13-point leads. With a 13 point lead against the Bills, the defense let the Bills move right down the field for their first score in just 3:32 after bottling up the Bills through the first quarter and a half to make it 13-7.
Slow Start for Brady: QB Brady Quinn was five-of-13 for 78 yards in the first half for a QB rating of 57.9.
Third Down Blues: The Browns started 0-4 on third down conversions. On the fifth try after an incomplete pass, the Browns picked up a first down as illegal contact was called on the Bills resulting in a first down.
Braylon Drops, then Hangs On: WR Braylon Edwards dropped another pass at the Bills' five in the first quarter. The Browns would've had a first down at the five if Edwards had held on. The Browns ended up kicking a field goal. Edwards had four receptions for 52 yards in the first half.
Turnover Battle: Usually, the team that wins the turnover ratio wins. The Browns had three interceptions in the first quarter, including one at the Bills' 12 and only produced six points. The Browns were plus three in the first half.
Big Play Wasted: The first play from scrimmage by the Bills was a pass attempt by QB Trent Edwards and DL Shaun Rogers deflected the pass and LB Kamerion Wimbley made his first career interception at the Browns' 44. However, the Browns wasted the opportunity as they ran three plays and punted.
Second Big Play for FG: On the very next series, LB Andra Davis made a nice interception of Edwards and the Browns started at the Bills'49. The Browns turned it into a 40-yard field goal.
Big Shaun: DL Shaun Rogers broke through the line and dropped RB Marshawn Lynch for a loss in the first quarter.
Travis Daniel Debut: DB Travis Daniel started in place of DB Brandon McDonald. However, McDonald was active in the early going and had several tackles. He then intercepted Edwards and returned the pass to the Bills' 12.
