Fan View: Worst-Case Scenario Upon Us

No Browns season is so bad that the post-season can't make it any worse, at least if you're Jeff Biletnikoff suffering through an AFC Championship game featuring the most noxious teams known to man...

Out of sixteen, teams in the AFC, which two were Browns fans hoping NOT to see in next Sunday's AFC Championship Game?

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock... you didn't really need that long did you?

Baltimore at Pittsburgh with one going to the Super Bowl and whoever goes has a better-than-average chance of going all the way since the NFC representative will be either a #4 (Cardinals) or #6 (Eagles) seed.

Who do you root for in next week's AFC Title Game? Who do you root against?

Me, I'm hoping for a tie that extends into Tuesday with the NFL finally deciding to forfeit the Super Bowl to the NFC.

Yeah, right.

We have as much chance of that happening as we do of seeing Randy Lerner make an intelligent football decision.

Aren't you glad that you got to see:

  • One of the worst Browns seasons in the history of the franchise.
  • Their two most hated rivals playing next weekend for the right to be in the Super Bowl.
  • Lerner stumbling through yet another hiring process.

Do I think Eric Mangini can return the Browns to respectability? I'm sure hoping as much, but I think there's a better shot of Braylon Edwards holding on to the ball in the middle of the field knowing a linebacker is coming full speed and about to stick his helmet right between the "1" and "7" on his chest.

I can't and won't watch the AFC Championship game this weekend. I can't and won't watch the subsequent Super Bowl unless I get several independant confirmations that the NFC has a 70-point lead at halftime. Even then it might not be enough for me to turn on the game. Just the fact that one of those franchises is even going GRINDS ME TO NO END.

The Steelers or the Ravens have a better than 50/50 shot of winning it all this season. The same season the Browns were treated to five primetime games. The same year that we as Browns fans were going to be rewarded for all our loyalty and patience.

Some reward.

This is like getting invited to a free meal at a five-star restaurant and have the chef come out after dinner and announce he laced your food with salmonella.

I should be immune to bad endings but man, even this one is too much for me.

How about you?

I'd love to hear how you feel about this. Someone start a string on the forums entitled "Ravens-Steelers-AFC Title Game-YUCK" and weigh in with what you think.
