Eddie Johnson Passes Away

Updated with new information about the Eddie Johnson Memorial Fund...
We are sad to report that our good friend Eddie Johnson has passed away. Eddie has been an inspiration to all of us associated with Bernie's Insiders. Our sympathies go out to his wife and family, and we will miss him dearly.

Cleveland January Family, friends, teammates and fans will celebrate the life of EDDIE JOHNSON on Monday, January 27, 2003 at Church on the Rise – 3550 Crocker Road in Westlake Ohio. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the EDDIE JOHNSON FOUNDATION. Donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 6657, Cleveland, Ohio 44104

The above is a better address to send donations to, and we'll forward any that were sent to our office in Chagrin. Over the last several days, the skilled writers of the Browns press corps have written some terrific articles about Eddie. Perhaps, when a little more time has passed, some of us here will offer our thoughts as well. Here are some of the recent articles:

Former Brown Made Impression, by Mike McLain
Inspiration is Johnson's Legacy, by Marla Ridenour

"In spite of these difficult times, it really comes easy for me to help other people. All of these problems I am going through make me want to help even more. It's always been my motto that you measure a man by what he does for others, not so much what he can receive in return. Personally, I like giving. I don't like receiving. I would rather give than receive any time."

- Eddie Johnson, #51, 1959 - 2003
