Browns Blown Out; Controversy Back On

Derek Anderson replaced Quinn in the second half, but it made no difference in Baltimore. Fred Greetham recaps the Browns' depressing 34-3 rout at the hands of the Ravens.

Let the quarterback talk begin--again.

After getting behind 20-0, Eric Mangini did it. He switched quarterbacks after one half against the Ravens.

After saying the offense was a product of all 11 players on offense, Mangini looked as though he is putting all the blame on Brady Quinn.

Same result, either way. The Browns are 0-3 as they are blown out, 34-3.

Derek Anderson, in relief of Quinn, threw an interception on his first possession at the helm. That led to another Ravens' touchdown and a 27-0 lead. Anderson threw another interception in the fourth quarter that led to another Ravens' score to make it 34-3. Anderson threw a third interception in the second half in the fourth quarter.

From there, Anderson led the offense on their first drive of any substance. Two receptions to Mike Furrey and a long pass interference penalty moved the ball into Ravens' territory. A third down slant to Braylon Edwards gave the Browns a first down inside the 10.

On third-and-goal, Anderson threw incomplete in the end zone to Edwards and the Browns settled for a 30-yard field goal by newly signed Billy Cundiff to make it 27-3.

The Ravens built their lead as Willis McGahee put up two touchdowns along with two Steve Hauschka field goals to give the Ravens a commanding lead.

The Browns never challenged.

The tone was set early as the Ravens defense converted a Quinn interception on the first series into a 7-0 lead as McGahee scored from seven yards out with 10:15 to play in the first quarter.

The Browns started with two pass completions to Furrey and Edwards for a first down, but then Quinn was intercepted as he tried to hit Edwards by Dominique Foxworth, who flipped the ball to Ray Lewis, who returned the ball to the Browns' 31.

The Ravens extended their lead to 10-0 with 1:16 to play in the first quarter when Hauschka  kicked a 36-yard field goal. After the Browns punted, the Ravens moved quickly down the field behind Joe Flacco. A pass to L.J. Smith put the ball into Browns' territory, but a personal foul on Robaire Smith moved the ball inside the 10. However, Kamerion Wimbley was able to sack Flacco to force the field goal.

The Ravens made it 13-0 with 5:37 to play in the half as Hauschka hit a 33-yard field goal.

Just before halftime, the Ravens were able to increase their lead to 20-0 with 55 seconds to play as McGahee went in from 15 yards out after an 80-yard drive.

After Anderson threw an interception by Bennie Ayanbadejo, the Ravens picked up where they left off in the first half and made it 27-0 as Ray Rice went in from nine yards with 7:32 to play.

The Ravens increased their lead to 34-3 as Flacco hooked up with Derrick Mason for a 72-yard score as Mason beat Brandon McDonald for the score. The Ravens score was set up after Anderson threw his second interception.
