Browns Add A Scout, Sign A DB

The Berea makeover continued today as a former Holmgren coach is hired as a Pro Scout. Also, an ex-Raider is added to the roster

The Cleveland Browns today announced the hiring of Tom Headlee as a Pro Scout. In addition, the team signed free agent defensive back John Bowie.

Headlee joins the Browns after spending the previous 10 years on the Seattle Seahawks' coaching staff. He spent his first six seasons as a coaching assistant (2000-05) and the past four as the team's defensive quality control coach (2006-09). A graduate of Washington State University, he earned his degree in Education in 2000. A native of Wenatchee, Wash., Tom and his wife, Deborah, have two daughters, Kiara and Mckenna.

Originally drafted in the fourth round (110th overall) of the 2007 NFL draft by Oakland, Bowie appeared in five games in three seasons with the Raiders, recording two tackles on special teams. He was waived by Oakland on November 25, 2009. A four-year letterman at the University of Cincinnati (2003-06), he saw action in 33 contests with 12 starts, totaling 56 tackles, four passes defensed, two interceptions and one fumble recovery. A native of Columbus, Ohio, the 5-11, 190-pounder attended Northland High School in Columbus.
