OBR subscribers were unsurprised to learn late last week that General Manager Tom Heckert Jr. is continuing to put his stamp on the Browns personnel department.
John Spytek, who worked for the Eagles for five years under Heckert, was named Director of College Scouting. Spytek joined the Browns scouting department in January after Heckert was hired.
Pat Roberts, the Browns' director of College Scouting last year, is now a senior national scout for the Browns. He held a similar position with the Browns from 2005-2008.
Jonathan Stigall was hired as an area scout. He was a scout for the Eagles from 2006-2009 for the Eagles under Heckert.
These precise moves were predicted by Scout.com reporter Adam Caplan nearly a month ago.
Paul Warfield, a senior advisor to the general manager since 2004, has retired from the Browns front office. Warfield, in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, played for the Browns from 1964-69 and 1976-77.
Warfield's exit is the latest of a number of moves which reduces the influence of Browns alumni on the team's front office. Jim Brown is no longer operating in an official capacity and QB Bernie Kosar is playing a lesser role now that Mike Holmgren has been installed as Team President.
