After Tampa Bay signed Langley, they released undrafted rookie WR Margin Hooks and P Jason Malecki. Hooks played in the preseason opener against Miami, but did not play against Cleveland.
Malecki, who was signed on August 1 after veteran P Mark Royals suffered a sprained MCL, punted six times and had an average of 40.0 yards per punt.
Former Bucs' DE Chidi Ahanotu, who Tampa Bay released this offseason, was signed to a one-year contract by the St. Louis Rams. The Buccaneers had released Ahanotu after singing free agent DE Simeon Rice
Ahanotu was drafted by the Buccaneers in the sixth round of the 1993 draft. He started 104 of the 113 games he played for Tampa Bay. Ahanotu is now the third ex-Buc player to follow former Bucs' linebackers' coach Lovie Smith out to St. Louis.
Smith, who left Tampa this offseason to become the Rams' new defensive coordinator, signed former Bucs' LB Don Davis and DT/DE Tyoka Jackson earlier this offseason.
