Nothing went right for the Buccaneers on Thursday night football as they lost to the Atlanta Falcons 56-14.
While Glennon's stat line looked much better than his overall performance, he was still significantly better than McCown, who looked shell-shocked at times.
Glennon ended the night 17-24 for 121 and a touchdown pass to Vincent Jackson in the 4th quarter. He would have appeared to be taking over the reign as Bucs starting quarterback, but Lovie Smith is sticking with his man.
“Josh is our starter," Lovie Smith said at his press conference Friday. "We’re looking at one game right now. It would be simple if Josh was the only guy to play bad and it seems like that’s the only guy I’m asked about: ‘Is Josh your starter?’ You could ask that about quite a few people, starting with me: am I still the head coach based off of that effort? But a little bit more goes into it than that.”
While most would like to debate between whether Josh McCown or Mike Glennon gives the Bucs the best chance to win, but the harsh reality might be that neither is the long-term answer for the Bucs.
