No Regrets on Not Starting Glennon Sooner

The feeling from Bucs fans on the Monday after the team's first win of the season was one of jubilation and also confusion. The one question that continues to rise up is, "Why wasn't Glennon starting sooner."

Lovie Smith and the Buccaneers were the punchline of jokes just one week ago, but behind the arm of Glennon, the Bucs got their first win of the season.

"I don't have any regrets," Lovie Smith said on Monday. "We let things play out. You start off with a group, and wherever you belong, that's where you'll end up, so no regrets at all."

Of course Lovie Smith would say that in reference to both of his quarterbacks. It was Lovie Smith who would not allow any quarterback competition at his training camp.

"Yes, he is," Lovie Smith responded on March 12 when asked if Josh McCown would be his starter heading into the 2014 season.

Since when did a lifelong backup quarterback build up enough cache to not have any competition for his starting job at a training camp in the NFL?

Lovie has had a special affinity towards Josh McCown, but if Mike Glennon has more performances like he did on Sunday against the Steelers, Lovie Smith might only have one option he'd be able to go at quarterback.

There definitely isn't anything to regret if you make the obvious decision.
