Bucs fans are still giddy over Mike Glennon leading the Bucs to their 1st win of the 2014 season, but there is no harm in keeping an eye on the future as well.
Glennon had some clutch throws in the 2nd half of last Sunday's win against the Steelers, but he was not consistent with his accuracy and ended the game under 50% completions. Also, even though they did win on Sunday, the Bucs are 11.5 point underdogs to the Saints this Sunday and still considered one of the worst teams in the NFL by national analysts.
If the Bucs end up with a high pick in the 2015 draft, it will likely be because the quarterback play was not consistent and did not improve. If that's the case, the Bucs will likely look to drafting a quarterback with that early 1st round pick.
Although it is late (10:30pm start) tonight, Bucs fans might want to stay up to watch Oregon QB Marcus Mariota. Mariota is regarded by most NFL Draft analysts as the top quarterback in the 2015 draft, and could put on a show against Arizona.
I'm sure we'd all love for Mike Glennon to continue to progress and become a franchise-type quarterback, but if he does not, it doesn't hurt to watch a player who most likely will be that type of quarterback once he's selected at the end of next April.
