INJURY UPDATE: Punter Mark Royals took part in practice and launched several dozen punts on Monday. He is recovering from a sprained MCL in his kicking leg during the first week of camp, and is expected to punt Friday night in Atlanta.
Also recovering from a similiar injury, center Jeff Christy could be ready for the season opener in Dallas, but the team plans to debut him against the Philadelphia Eagles the following week. Todd Washington will replace Christy as the starting center.
There's a chance rookie linebacker Marq Cerqua could play this week against Atlanta. Cerqua dislocated his left shoulder in Cleveland and missed the New England game. Defensive ends Marcus Jones (right hamstring strain) and Joe Tafoya (left leg strain) could also return after missing the last two games.
Rookie defensive lineman Ellis Wyms has a stress fracture in his left foot and will miss a couple of days to allow it to heal.
