The trade deadline was coming to its conclusion before the Buccaneers made two trades sending LB Jonathan Casillas to the Patriots and Mark Barron to the Rams.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bucs will receive 4th and 6th round draft picks from the Rams in return for Barron.

The Bucs selected Mark Barron with the 7th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft after trading down two slots with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The thought around the NFL and in Tampa Bay was that the Bucs would end up selecting LB Luke Kuechly. Instead, the Bucs surprised and selected Barron. Kuechly was the NFL's Defensive Player of the year in 2013.

The Bucs will now move highly priced Dashon Goldson to his proper position at strong safety, but he may also be shown the door at the end of this season due to his $9M per year price tag.

After many rumors, the Bucs did not trade away Vincent Jackson or Doug Martin. Reports stated that the Bucs were willing to move both, but probably did not receive enough value back in return.

The Bucs other trade was sending LB Jonathan Cassillas and a 6th round selection to the Patriots for a 5th round pick in the 2015 draft.
