The Buccaneers will look to get on track against the Washington Redskins today at 1:00. The Bucs have dropped to 1-8 on the season, duplicating their record from a year ago through 9 games. Today's game against the Redskins presents some unique matchups, which don't necessarily end up in the Bucs favor.
The Bucs defense (29th) will face a mobile quarterback for the 1st time in 2014 when they face off against Robert Griffin III. For a defense in the Bucs that has had difficulties trusting each other and becoming undisciplined, it makes me curious to see how undisciplined RG3 makes them with his ability to create with his legs. If RG# can extend plays and keep his eyes down the field, the Bucs 31st ranked pass defense might get shredded even more than they have in recent weeks.
Alterraun Verner is slated to be out of this game as well, which could lead to a big day for the Redskins passing attack. I imagine that Jay Gruden has a little animosity for the team that fired his brother just a few years ago. Look for both Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson to potentially have big games against the Bucs weak secondary.
Defensively for the Redskins, they have been a surprising unit ranking 10th in total defense this year. Ryan Kerrigan has 7.5 sacks on the year, which is more than half of what the entire Bucs defense has this year (14). In a secondary coached by former Bucs head coach Raheem Morris, the Redskins have young players in David Amerson and Bashaud Breeland who can be big time playmakers.
While the Bucs special teams has been a joke, the Redskins special teams has been solid with Andre Roberts as their return man and former Bucs kicker Kai Forbath being reliable making 15 of 16 field goals.
PREDICTION: Redskins Win 27-13
